I’ve heard it said that the biggest room in our life is the room for improvement.
The question is, how are you filling this room?
There are so many things in the world that competes for our time and attention that we can fill our room for improvement with stuff that will not help us to improve.
If I was to back up for a minute and ask, “what do you need to improve in your life?” What would your answer be? For some, it’s reading my bible more, spending more time with God, eating healthier, praying more for that loved one who do not know the Lord, serving in your local church, spend more time with your family and so on.
Would this improvement bring glory to you or to the Lord? In my experience, the improvement is noticed by others and when the achievement is raised with you, you have an opportunity to give God the glory for what He has done in and through you.
Going back to the things that compete for our time, we have to be very careful as the world today is becoming more digital, we have access to so many devices that can easily be considered a computer that allows you to connect to the internet so that you can ‘quickly’ check something that you don’t know or what the score is. This can then take quite a bit of time that you can use to fill your room for improvement.
Remember, if you pray once per week for that loved one who do not know the Lord, in one year, you would have prayed for that person 52 times. Imagine if you prayed twice a week for this person, it’s over 100 times!
Be intentional for the next few days and see where you can claw back some time that you can use to fill your room for improvement.
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 15: 5-6 (NIV)
